On a stock tire that cart will make 10-12mph. Results vary by cart. A new 36v motor would give 33% increase in speed from a perfect set of batteries in the ideal cart. You do the math what is 1/3rd of 10-12? 3-4 right... But what about a less than new motor? Or a less than ideal cart? Results diminish in my experience. |

I respectfully disagree with ScottyB.
10mph stock? Really? Here's some decent troubleshooting pages: http://www.metrogolfcars.com/pdf/98-...Supplement.pdf |

Obviously you'll want to correct this. These brakes are a very simple, easy to work on setup.
You'll likely find rust buildup on the drum. Take the drums to a decent automotive shop, and have them cleaned up. The better shops will sandblast the drums before turning them on a lathe. If you're unfamiliar with how to check and adjust the brakes, get a service manual. |

Golf cart drums should not be turned on a lathe. They have no excess material built into the wall thickness.

Re: how can i increase me speed 5 mph?
The 2 slowest stock carts I ever drove were stock. 1980s 36v Ezgo Marathon and 1990s 48v Club Car. The later was a big disappointment.
Consider the engineers designed these carts for golf course use. Course owners did not want fast carts. Carts were designed to run between 11-14mph Maximum speed. When the cables corrode and the batteries age 10mph is not uncommon and if you read these forums as much as I do you will find a percentage of stock carts which run 8-10 mph. |

Re: how can i increase me speed 5 mph?
First off, cool to see another member from Bradenton on here. I just started my build up of a 1994 CC DS.
Your brakes are really, really easy to work on. My cart had a little drag when I picked it up. I just pulled the rear wheels, took off the drums and cleaned everything up with some brake cleaner and a rag. Now the brakes work great, and I'm certain they have never been worked on in the 18 years my cart has existed. The other possibility is the brake cables are adjusted too tightly. There are two nuts on the brake pedal throw rod that can be adjusted in or out to tighten/loosen the cables. If a good cleaning doesn't fix it, check that next. |
