Default 1982-1987 carburator

I lost the carb screw that has the locking nut on it. I believe it is the idle adjustment screw although the idle never appeared to be different when I would screw it in or out. Is there any way to obtain this screw without buying a new carb? Thank you!

Do you have a Fastenal location near you? If not, try taking your carb to a place with a good selection of automotive-type screws, and find one to fit. Grab the jam nut once you've found the screw. I haven't seen any single carb screws for sale, but honestly, I haven't really looked. So they could be out there.

You are correct it is the idle (low speed) screw. As your cart doesn't idle you don't need it. You do however need to stop the hole from bleeding air so just block it off with some tape and see how it runs. If you are happy then make a permanent fix.
