Back on the trail! Hot wire?

Ok I've been going through this upgrade stuff a part at a time as I break stuff HAHA! I planned all along to replace the entire drive line, and I'm almost there. Lifted it an burned up the solenoid shortly after a stall in the woods pulling a hill with a bunch of weight on board. Fine, replaced Solenoid and SC with Alltrax.

Cart ran amazing! for about a week when I burned up the motor overheating it running downhill with 3 people about 25MPH. Ok New motor

Just got my shiny new EMP custom motor and it runs great. Used a field map that is not the most aggressive I could just to see how it does. Took a test run. Happy happy happy. Runs great.

Ran it about 10 minutes around a bit on mild terrain and pavement up to 22 MPH wit me and my son on it, and then checked everything. The stock common hot wire is hot from the pack to the Solendoid. Not so hot you can't hold it, but pretty dang hot. everything else is cool. A wire upgrade was next anyway.

Just how bad is it on the other components like that?

I also popped for a built in T'state that will close on high temp built into the motor. Wiring that to a red dash light and buzzer! No more smoked motors for me.

Upgrading the stock wires is the first thing you should have done.

Wiring is very important and is required for anymore more than stock. I'd put a good set of 2 gauge welding cables on it and I think you'll find that your problem is gone.

THanks guys. I'm ordering a set of 2ga. I did find that that last (red) wire off the pack that was getting so hot also had a weird connection at the cable terminal. It seemed to wiggle more than usual. So I cut back to some fresh wire and soldered a new one on, then went for a ride. It acted a lot better. Still got hot after some heavy load running, but so did several of the other wires. I'm pretty sure most of them have at least some level of corrosion on the cables themselves ans since I was going to upgrade anyway...

The EMP custom motor runs cool and seems to have plenty of power do anything I want. once I can keep the wires from getting too hot, I can really ring it out.

Have any of you actually felt your wires after a hard run to see what the feel like? How about your motor posts and motor? I'm wondering if some of this is just "Normal".

Just went to the store and back. About 5 mi. Motor is barely warm w/500a controller and 6hp motor.
We used to have a temp rule at work. If your can put your hand on it for a least a 5 count it isn't to hot.
