Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
Humm, off bat could be the controller.
How are the batteries, I bet they were abused, so it is gradually getting worse huh. When this happens does it drop out completely like loosing power, every time you start off then runs great afterwards? |

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
It occurs only at slow speed and intermittently, not every time I accelerate.
It's not long enough for me to think that the cart is going to die but it is very noticeable. The issue has gotten more pronounced in a short time. I was usually the only one that noticed sonething amiss now everyone that rides can notice. The battery light does come on every time the cart is unplugged from the charger. While charging the light is off. The light stays on for 5-10 seconds than off for the same. |

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
It sounds like batteries, 3 years is about life expectancy for golf course carts batteries, and those big tires are really putting a strain on them.
Get a voltage reading while riding the cart. |

Darn. That's not good news.
Where do I need to take the reading at? Sorry for all of the questions. I'm new to the world of carts |

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
If You don't have alligator clips, You will need to zip tie or tape the voltmeter probes to the battery pack.
Set your voltmeter to 200vDC and place the probes on the positive and negative battery pack posts. They will be the only 2 battery posts not connected to another battery. Take a note how low the voltage goes when accelerating, if You have a hill, take a reading going up hill. You should start around 50v and not get below 40v. |

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
Gotcha! I did a quick search (duh) and figured how to do a quick check.
Unfortunatey the cart was on the charger so I couldn't get an true reading. On the charger I'm getting 60+ volts. The charge cycle was finishing up as I headed out for some dinner so I unplugged it and allow the cart to set up for an hour or two. Hopefully when I get back I can do some more testing. Kind of bummed that I just got the cart and might have to replace the batteries now. |

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
I had a cart that did something very similar and it ended up being a cracked magnet in the speed sensor. It might not be your issue but its a quick and cheap (free) thing to check.

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
I have seen jerking on a DS cart, the cables were not tighten on the solenoid. Check all battery cables, could be loose or maybe a bad connection.

Re: Precedent jerks! Help?
Batteries seem to test just fine.
The plot thickens..... Need some points on how to check the magnet. I'll check the solenoid connections now. |
