Re: Installed Battery Meter and now '86 Marathon won't go
Thanks for your help everybody. I bought a micro switch from my local dealer for $15 + tax yesterday morning, installed it last night and all is well.
For now I just rigged the DVM right to the pack. I am still trying to noodle how big of an issue it is to wire the key switch in there. The issue I see is that as it stands the card only sends 36V to the key switch when you press the pedal. If I connect the dvm via the key switch now there is going to be 36V going through the key switch anytime the key if on right? I suspect that could cause a problem. I might look at putting a manual cutoff switch on the dash right next to the DVM. That way I could turn it on and off at will, but it would still only be connected right to the pack. What do you guys think? smitj02 |

Connecting DVM directly to the battery pack and adding a switch to one of the wires connecting it will work.
The other option would be to rewire your carts KSI circuit, placing the key switch first in line instead of MS-3, but there is less room for error by just connecting DVM direct to the pack with an in-line switch. |

Re: Installed Battery Meter and now '86 Marathon won't go
I have installed meters in carts which have key switches fed by F&R Micro switches without a problem, the Meter blips off when the shifter passes thru neutral. Otherwise they have acted as normal.

I hadn't thought of doing it that way.
If you attach the DVM's "-" terminal to the key switch and the "+" lead to B+, DVM will be on when key is on and F/R is in F or R. |

Re: Installed Battery Meter and now '86 Marathon won't go
Lots of analog meters went worked this way, and the DVM doesn't seem to be adversely effected by switching on/off .......

Jonnie B. I installed a pack meter over the weekend and like you the cart sits a considerable amount of time. I was just looking at adding a battery cutoff switch to the neg side to turn it off. Sounds like the easiest soultion to me.

Found an easier cheaper solution. An in line quick connect. Jut pull it apart when you want it disabled. Duh! why didn't I think of that.
