Default 1996 Ez go electric m- really hot

I have 1996 ezgo electric TXT with dcs controller. Cart will not start out from a dead stop. It will run if you give it a push but then the m- wire gets really hot. Also the b+ wire has volts going to it even when solenoid is not kicked in.

Sounds to me like you either have a bad battery/batteries or your motor brushes may need to be replaced...

I guess what I should say is that the b+ terminal even without a wire hooked to it from the solenoid has volts. 37.5 volts to be exact. At the same time the m- has the same volts until the accelerator is pushed and then it drops slowly to zero. Have brand new batteries and new motor. I have done the load test on the batteries but have no way to check the brushes on the motor. I know that new does not mean there is not a problem...but could it be in the controller?

** Oops, I miised the part where you said you have a new motor**

A 1996 motor may be due for a bearing and brushes. It's really not too hard to do. Download the Owners, Service, and Parts manuals in the Stickies, and follow the instructions.

You may want to finish troubleshooting first. I'd order the bearing just 'cause, but you may want to open it up to inspect the brushes before ordering new ones.

Having power at B+ is just the capacitors in the controller discharging. Is only the M- cable getting hot? It could have loose connectors or bad connections! I'd remove it and clean the connections and re-crimp the terminal ends to the wire, if needed. Of course you can replace the cable too!

Can you be more specific?
what motor?
What batteries?
What controller ( stock curtis?)
What solenoid? (stock 70a?)
What cables?

A google search for that motor shows nothing?
Are you sure you have the correct info posted?
Is that a stock motor? Upgrade?
Everything you posted about the controller sounds like it is working okay. Maybe the motor load is just too great for the control?
