Default 2002 new batteries and lights are dim

My Dad has a 2002 EZ Go cart that he recently put in new batteries. He hooked everything back up just as it should be, but now, his lights are about half as bright as they were.

Any suggestions as to what could cause this?

Thanks

Do you have a voltmeter?

Check the voltage going to the lights, at the lights.

Are his lights powered by a voltage reducer or hooked directly to the batteries? If they are hooked to the batteries make sure that they are hooked to two batteries in series so they get 12volts. If he hooked them back up from only one battery that could explain why the lights are dim. Mine are connected to the + of the second battery and the - of the third batt.

aside from the above make sure he has the lights grounded to the battery and not the frame...never ground to frame on an electric cart...
