Wiring a radio on Ez-go golfcart

Hey everyone,

Im having trouble wiring my radio to my golfcart. I have already wired the + and - lines tot he batterys but i dont know if i need an amplifier for my speakers.

Can anyone help, thanks

Two separate issues.
1. Getting radio to work.
2. Getting more volume. ( If needed or desired)

Tapping into the battery pack for 12V imbalances the pack and may shorten the life expectancy of the batteries, but a low wattage radio (or audio system) probable won't do much harm.

A high wattage audio amp should be powered by a 36V to 12V reducer or run from a separate 12V battery.

Def agree with johnnieb on tapping into two batteries not being the best way. If your hooking up a cd player alot of times when you first hit the pedal down the voltage drop will cause radio to shut off for a moment and come back on...a reducer would resolve this...also a amp is not necessary for smaller speakers as they are mostly used for subs in enclosed spaces and your (I'm Guessing) going for a treblized system so its loud enough to hear clearly while riding around. So both of you are mostley saying that i would need to run the radio power supply from a seperate battery to cover all watts that the radio and speakers are going to draw in?

I have my stereo and lights running off a seperate deep cycle battery that Still fits under the seat next to the others. I charge this battery when needed about once a week. The other nice thing about having a seperate battery is if you run it down to nothing you can still get home on your normal pack.
