Default Ezgo TXT series

What options do I have to give my TXT more than stock speed, are there any chips for these?

A TXT is a body style that was introduced in 1996 and is still being produced today.
There have been three different drive systems.
Series (Series wound motor) - Produced from 1996 to present.
PDS (Sepex motor) Produced from 2000 to present.
DCS (Sepex motor) produced from 1996 to 2000.

What year is your TXT and what Drive type does it have?

The speed of a properly working stock '07 TXT with a series wound motor is in the 12 to 14 Mph range.

To get more speed, you've basically got three options.
1. Increase voltage.
2. Change final drive ratio.
3. Change motor.

To increase voltage, in addition to either adding more batteries or selecting batteries with more cells, you have to upgrade solenoid and controller to match new voltage.

Changing the differential gears and/or changing tire height (diameter) will change final drive ratio, but all gains in speed are offset by a proportional loss in torque.

There are aftermarket motors that produce more RPMs for a given applied voltage, but draw more amps to do so. (You don't get something for nothing)

Also, while perusing the elusive quest for speed, keep in mind that the cart only has two wheel mechanical brakes.

Everytime I see mention of the mechanical brakes, I have to smile. The first car I bought, after high school, originally had mechanical brakes. By the time I got it it had been converted to hydraulic. Everytime I made an emergency stop, I thanked whomever had the forthought to save my butt.
The relevance is; Johnnie, you make a great point.

I have the same cart as mentioned above and I was concerned at first too, but after using the search tool and a lot of reading on here, I have to buy new batteries, and upgrade my f/r switch, and controller and solenoid, and with stock tires and ride height my should be just the performance I'm looking for. Just my 2¢ worth.
