Update, AGEL55, you asked what i left unplugged. I remembered unplugging ignition and running it to its normal mounting location versus just laying on floor pan. Long story short, i tried the old ignition i had laying around and voila, i have forward and reverse now. I could not believe it. I had to watch tire rotation and motor rotation several times to even convince myself. I dont have a key and or a new china switch but i have forward and reverse, lol

i had noticed in the past one of the metal connectors inside there would push out as i tried to mate it with inside other plastic connector. It appears right now, im back to starting perfect in forward and reverse.

Cool news! I figured it was something simple. So now you should be getting close to shooting that high gloss Zambezi Purple paint job with Chartreuse flames.

i had the key switch tied up while i was doing some test drives. After i felt i had the electrical in better shape i attached ignition into permanent spot and the dash was still loose but slid down the steering column. I had placed into reverse and the pedal got hung onto dash and the brakes are basically non-existent. Backing up too fast and 4 broken bottoms of my fence later i stopped. Had to replace those boards but not before the wife seen it, lol

I've followed this thread with interest and I'm glad you got it worked out.
And yes, some of the simplest things can be over looked but what can never be unseen is the smirk on your wifes face when you've been truly caught!!!!!

Now drive the wheels off of it.

LOL for sure. I have seen her shake her head at me like that a bunch of times.

Now to getting brakes and other stuff going to get it back to life. Starting to prepare it for some new paint. I have brought a 1971 Yamaha AT1C 125 enduro back to life, 2 1995 yamaha jet skis, and now a 1983 Yamaha golf cart. All 2 strokes, lol. Each project has been fun. Got to luv a good project where you bring something back to life, lol. Just cause its got a few years on it, does not make it bad. I resemble that remark, lol
