Default Allow 2008 precedent to keep running after releasing gas pedal

I have a 2008 Precedent and I was gonna do the throttle linkage mod. When I pulled the floor I couldn't find any rod connected to the gas pedal, only a cable. I also found nowhere I could disconnect a wire that would let the engine keep running when I lift my foot from the gas pedal.

Does anyone know how to disable the switch that automatically kills the engine when the gas pedal is teleased?

I tried Lockman1's idle setup. Great instructions but my cart has a different configuration.

Then I found this post which worked perfectly. Cutting wires is never an easy decision for me, but in this case snipping the white/black out of the accelerator pedal control box did the trick.

I also zip-tied the limit switch on the forward/reverse lever so the cart can be started in neutral. There is always a risk any time you defeat a safety feature, but this lets the cart stay running as you shift between forward and reverse. I may be causing extra wear on the drive components but I do like the end result.

Nice!

I must have missed that other Precedent idle thread, I've always wondered how to get them to idle!
I've had my Lynx idling for about 8 years now, and it's difficult for me to ride on another DS that doesn't idle!

One word of advice... DS or Precedent...
Try not to let the Kawi FE engines sit and idle for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, the spark plug may/will carbon up and foul! (don't ask me how I know that! )
If by chance you do, try to run it at WOT every once in a while to blow out the carbon.

Happy carting!

Thanks for the idling advice. Will pass this on to my other drivers.

I like the setup but it takes some getting used to. I catch myself stepping of the cart and wondering what that noise is. Duh, it's still running!

You'll get used to it!
You'll also have to get used to people asking you why your cart idles, and theirs doesn't!

Do you have to shut cart off to switch between forward and reverse. Or just come to stop and idle and then switch gear selector.

ALWAYS come to a complete stop, or you'll be grinding gears!

At a full stop w/ the engine running my shift lever is pretty stiff. There is no grinding but it is difficult to shift between F/N/R. Is that normal? Am I doing any damage?

Good question! and I'm not sure how to answer that!
The only suggestion I have is... see if you can get the idle down just a little lower without stalling!

I've had a shifter on my cart for a long time, it's always been easy to shift!

I've already got it way low. Lower than in this vid https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=13&v=qGjo_CbyEn0 ?

Is that the shifter you have? I think I just found where my next $200 is going.
