Default replacement shocks

Hey guys...I was just thinking about lift kits and the shock extensions that come with them. I am most likely going with a spacer lift, either home made which I will weld up myself or ones found on ebay. This made me think. If I were going to get new shocks, could I just get shocks, maybe inexpensive automotive shocks,to put in place of the factory ones that are longer and would not require the spacers?

Lifts in the 4-6" range on a Marathon,You can use a Monroe 32207 on the rear.Just reuse the sleeve from your original shock lower-eye.The top eye will fit as is,just lightly grease or nevr-seize the bolt where the rubber rides.I'm still workin on front shock numbers.

For the front try Gabrial 82170. I made 3 inch blocks for my 88 and those shocks should work for at least a 5 inch lift. They are 10.56 inch compressed to 17.67 inch extended. My stock ones are 9 inch to 12 inch. I read some where on this forum that some one did a 5 inch lift and those shocks work and they used Gabrial 81676 for the rear.
