Default yamaha g1 front motor cluch question

this is a Yamaha G1 clutch question, first off I have replaced the rear drive spring with a spring up grade kit and new belt. The problem I am having is with the front clutch ( the attached to mortar ) it grabs very quick and jerks the cart very hard. I think a new spring would help but can not find a source to get one. Has any one had the same problem and how did you fix it?

The spring in the primary clutch is no longer available. I would take the clutch apart clean the shaft and lightly coat it with grease. It sounds like the clutch is sticking and you can really notice it now because of the new, now wider belt.

Mine did the same thing. I took it apart and degreased the whole thing, scraped all the crap out of the insides, checked all the weights for slop and damage to the surfaces that slide on the housing, lubed just the slide points on the shaft and roller with just a tiny amount of grease and reassembled. Also, get yourself a piece of 2" pvc pipe and cut a washer that is about 1/4" wide and put it behind the spring. This will help delay the engagement of the clutch. This won't delay upshift at all, but it should help with the engagement issue. Good luck.

Thank you for the suggestions, last summer I rebuilt the engin the cluch look ok. the instaloing of a washer sounds like the next step with cleaning an lubing the shaft spindle. Althoe I wish there was a stronger replacement spring avalible. Is ther eny way to get the cluch of with out renting a tool ?

thank You !

If you don't have a clutch puller you won't get that clutch off. The shaft is tapered and when they are tightened down they fit on there pretty tight. The puller pushes on the crankshaft while pulling on the clutch. When they pop off, it really comes off with some force. I don't think I'd even try to get one off without that tool.

Not finding it, maybe you saw the ezgo version? I've never seen that spring available yet.
