Question for the board:

I have a logisystems 700 (0 - 5k) 48v controller in a club car.
I am really thinking about going to 72 volts.
What says the bretheren, will it handle this much voltage?
If not how much over 48 volts will might it take?

If the controller's nameplate states 48V, i would stick to 48V. Above that would likely require modification to some or all of the current switching components & voltage regulation section. Basically, if all of the guts were rated up 72V, it would be labeled as a 72V controller.

I was a dealer for that company before they closed up shop. The man who made those controllers told me customers had a history of over-volting his controllers & wanting warranty repairs, so he set that controller up to blow something out right at 60-62v. That way he would know that it had been used on too much voltage.
That should tell you everything you need to know.

I have had this controller for a long time.
Most folks weren't doing the 72 volt thing back then...........
