Help with Speed Question
Ok, I know every cart is somewhat different based on its setup, but I hope you guys can help me.
I have a 2006 48 volt Precedent IQ. I upgraded the controller to a DCX400IQ Alltrax, upgraded the Solenoid to the MZJ400 (which is overkill), and upgraded all the wires to the 2AWG. It still has the stock motor. The torque is AMAZING! Can crawl slowly up any hill you put in front of it, can spin tires up hills, over logs, and can lift the front tires off the ground about 3 inches. My question is this...how fast should my speed be? I monitored the throttle via the Alltrax monitor and it is at 100% when I mash it to the floor. I put the Throttle Response on Linear. All other settings seem to be right based on what I read in here and my top speed pulling on a flat road, or very very slight incline is 13 MPH. Downhill, it will get up to about 20. (verified via GPS) Is this normal. My main goal on the upgrade was TORQUE....not speed, so it isn't that big of a deal to me. After all, you can only go so fast through the woods.....trees tend to slow a cart down!! lol |

Re: Help with Speed Question
Once you remove the stock controller and replace it with an Alltrax there shouldn't be any speed reduction. A stock motor should turn around 19 MPH with stock tires and a bit more with 22" tires.
What was your speed before you changed out the controller? The Controller is where the speed settings were, (stock Curtis controller,) but not any longer with your Alltrax unless programmed that way. |

Re: Help with Speed Question
My speed was the same before the controller upgrade. The big thing is the torque that got increased. Before, the cart wouldn't climb hills where I hunt. Now it will climb any hill.
One thing, I did check the speed with an APP on my phone that was "GPS"....I think that may be off. I will get a true reading with a real GPS. I got a feeling I am going a touch faster. |

CC programs their cart speeds through the Factory Curtis controller, (see attached picture.) Once you change out the controller you'll get the max speed the motor can do based on the programming of your new Alltrax controller. That speed could also be determined by any resistance the cart may have, (dragging brakes, etc.,) if that was an issue. Just pushing the cart by hand would tell you it that's a problem or if lifted and you get a pulsation in your brakes, that too could be a problem with a Too Short brake cable on the driver side! |

Re: Help with Speed Question
Thank you for your reply. I replaced the brake cable with a longer one when I did the lift. I will check my Alltrax settings and post them here after the weekend. I think I can tweak her a bit.

Re: Help with Speed Question
Scuba is well versed in Precendent speed control
The DCX control has a slow to fast slider bar in the control panel. It also has a power 0-100% slider. Make sure they are both up 100%. |
