I have a Vector charger that has a battery recondition option (the manual says "desulfate"). Could this help improvre those numbers? I'm pretty sure this cart came from a golf course so likely the batteries have not been taken care of properly. If this could work, must I disconnect the batteries before I use this option? ANything else I should consider (please don't new batteries now!!!!)

delulphanation is something that should be done every day of charge.... once everything solidifies into acid crystals it might be too late to recover.....

but give it your best shot...........can't hurt trying

Thanks ForBruce. Do you know what the ideal readings or range should be? I use this Vector charger on my boat batteries and it does a great job so I assume it might help these batteries. I keep the cart batteries on the charger at all times.

Scottyb, thanks for the info. What do you think about trying to desulfate the batteries with the feature on my Vector charger (non cart charger)? Or should these readings be expected for Dec 09 batteries? If I try to desulfate the batteries, do I need to disconnect the battery cables? Anything else I need to be aware of should I try this? By the way, you've answered several questions lately for me and I really appreciate it.

One last word on this subject.....my charger (non cart charger) will desulfate a battery over a 24 hour period and the manual says it may take up to 5 cycles to be effective...anyone done this? Also, please see my last post and I'd welcome any answers or suggestions. Thanks!!!

I'm sorry I do not have any experience with de-sulfating batteries or the machine you have.
I only have this to offer. If old sulfated batteries could be repaired or the damage reversed, then new battery sales would cease.
I think those machines are intended towards maintaining newer batteries rather than repairing old ones. But give it a try, you have only the power and time to run it to loose ....

the desulphanating process is more of "preventive maintenance" rather than quick cure. It functions to break up "SMALL" freshly formed acid crystals. Once you have large deposits on the bottom and the plates it's mostly a crap shoot.


take your worst battery check voltage 12 hours after charge and put the desulphanator on for 2 days and retest after 12 hours of resting.

at this point i don't think it will help much..but what have you got to loose
