Re: on board charger
what kind of charger? did they give you any instructions when you bought it? i,m not sure where you need to bypass but from reading it seems they included that info with new charger.....you would think it has to be with the grey wire since that is the sense lead but i,m not certain..........someone will know..........................

Re: on board charger
I actually have a 4x12v precedent so I have added a Genuis 4 bank marine charger. Had to relocate the controller and the solenoid to make room for it. Also removed OBC and mounted new charger over hole. Have everything put back together and each bank on charger to seperate battery. While waiting on charger I was just trying to figure out how to make it work without the OBC. Have a harness that did plug in to OBC with 6-8 wires on it. Guessing just have to jump two of the wires together to make controller think it was there.

Re: on board charger
I removed the aluminum mounting plate from the center. Moved controller all the way to rear and mounted the charger to the front over the hole where the OBC was. Had to install the solenoid on the back side of the plate where the heat sink is. Ran wires and got all batteries hooked up, turned it on and went in the house for couple hours. Went back to check on it and found it gets pretty warm! Going to either install a 48v fan to remove heat or move the charger to under rear seat. It has indicator lights to let you know status of each battery but I cant find anyway to mount it where I can see them. Its a Gen4 10amp x 4 bank charger that is waterproof and vibration resistance

Re: on board charger
It is 10amps per bank. It only charges what needs charging and it has several stages so they charge independently and will cut off one battery even if the other three batteries are still charging. So yes, I do believe 10amps per bank is enough

Re: on board charger
what about mounting the unit at the rear of the cart . the small compartment that's under the rear seats .... and then pull the wires thru the back inspection plate to the batteries.
I was lead to believe the leads are 5 feet each that should be enough.... I'm looking into one myself |

Re: on board charger
Here are a few pics of the on board charger. Remember I just put it in and have not tested everything so I have not cleaned up the wires yet. If it works here I will straighten up all the mess. If it stays here I will put a fan in rear of compartment and exhaust holes in front. I will use a 48v fan and have it come on if the charger is on or if the cart is in use. Figure that may help down the road when I install my 500amp controller.
I still havent received any answers on how to jump out the obc. This does me no good if I cant get it to work! Thought about mounting under rear seat but have plans on adding a subwoofer where the access panel is |
