Club Car Charging issues
Hi Folks! I just fixed my Club Car charger!
I have a 2008 Precedent electric cart with original batteries. After servicing the batteries with distilled water for the spring, I placed the cart on charge. About 2 hours into the charging cycle, I noticed the ammeter on the charger was showing a negative (below zero) reading! After checking voltages on the individual batteries, and doing a OPC manual reset with no sucess, I took the charger apart. I found that one "leg" of the full wave bridge rectifier was open. The original rectifier was 50 amp and 600 volt PRV. I found a local replacement in stock (NTE 53020) rated at 50 amp and 1000 volt PRV for under 10 dollars at a electronics store. All is well now! I hope this info will help someone else. Regards, Mack |
