Roll test is for speed sensor:

Turn keyswitch to ON, TOW/RUN in RUN position and then push the cart by hand . . should feel resistance as roll-away braking engages . . . if cart rolls freely with no resistance, speed sensor is bad . . .

Did you also have it in FWD? Don't remember if it needs to be in "gear" or not . . .

Steve, turns out I am in error. The cart is my dads and he stated that the batteries probably werent changed out as I thought but I would still think the "roll test" would have encountered some resistence had the speed sensor been working correctly?
Also- could you guys point me to where I can purchase a speed sensor? Perhaps a sponsor?

This is a very common problem with Club Car DS IQ carts and Precedents. We have the replacement speed sensors for both the GE and ADC motors. See the pictures to make sure you are getting the correct one.

I did have it in forward ... should I try it without being in gear?

No, the braking should work with it in FWD . .
