36 to 48 volt conversion
I have a 97 club car ds 36 volt in which I am rebuilding (batteries caught fire). I am planning to convert from 36 to 48 volts. The question I have is I want to use the resistor coils and the existing motor. I did see where larger coils are available to use for heavy duty motors. Will these work if I convert to 48 volts? And yes I considered adding a controller but cost is an issue. Any thoughts or ideas?

Re: 36 to 48 volt conversion
I have not been able to make the resistor coil 48v conversion work. The only time it does okay is at WOT when the coils are out of the loop. I think you are building another fire. Stick with 36v or convert to a solid state speed control system.
