Default Balancing wheels/tires

Are golf cart wheels/tires supposed to be balanced like a car tire?

Post Re: Balancing wheels/tires

Firestone did mine, but I operate at higher than normal speeds as LSV, they used a “bubble” balancer for the rims wouldn’t mount correctly to larger spin balancer, 25550R-10's on the back and 22545R-10's on the front. On a 12-14 mph golf cart, I wouldn’t see a need; others might have different thoughts…

Thanks. My cart was in in the 12-14 mph area before the lift kit and bigger wheels and tires. I haven't checked it but I would say I'm in the 18-20mph area now. I need to break out my gps and see what it says.

Balancing a wheel for an auto is for higher speeds mainly above 50mph as this is where an unbalanced wheel will be pronounced the most. I wouldn't see a need for a low speed vehicle needing the wheels to be balanced. There is alot more mass in a car tire then a golf cart tire.

9 golf carts right now about 20 over the past 2 years never balanced a single one. Not even my sand cart breaking 50mph on sand. Being mostly bias ply the tread is like the side walls but thicker so balancing is a pain any ways and you feel bumps and cracks more. As a bias ply warms up it will ever so slightly egg shape to account for any unbalance so it rides smooth. That is NOT true for truck tires since they are considerable heavier and much much thicker so the rubber can't completely conform.

Thanks all. I just wanted to be sure I shouldn't of gotten them balanced. Makes sense to me.
