Default GEM Cart 4X4?

I have a guy with a front wheel drive 72V GEM cart that gets stuck in wet grass.
He wants me to put a electric drive axle in the rear. Or see if it is even feasible/practical.
I've searched here and general Google and find no info on it, is it possible?
Anyone have any links that I could research for help?

My thoughts:
Is it as easy as running cables from front 72V motor a rear 72V motor?
Do I need to install matching controllers for the individual motors and duplicate the inputs from low voltage signal to them?
I've checked out bad boy buggies for clues and they either run one or two controllers but very vague on the schematics.

I don't think it's as easy as you think.

There!. You have a response

Seriously though, I don't see why it would be front wheel drive only? I wonder if it was originally built as a 4X4 and went bad and was converted some time in it's earlier days.

so are you wanting to just move the drive to the rear like most golf carts?
it would not get stuck on wet grass then :)

if you are wanting to make it 4x4 then are you adding another controller?
not sure if the one controller would handle both drives.
bad boy does it but the controllers don't last very long :)
if you add another controller would the throttle signal drive two controllers?

worst case 2 controllers 2 drive axles and one pedal activates 2 throttle devices? must be doable with some work and time

if you could figure this i know a bunch of hunters that love to hear about it

The Polaris Ranger EV is equipped with On-Demand True AWD/2WD/VersaTrac Turf Mode. You might want to check out how the Polaris drive system works.

It sounds like an expensive conversion on a Gem cart ... perhaps some better traction tires would help with the wheel spin.

Just recently bought a Gem, switched to some mud tires modified the front inner fender and it works like a charm I attached a photo.

Nice looking cart ... looks like a mud buggy now

What make, model and size of tires did you go with? Perhaps a close up photo of the tire and tread would be helpful.
