Basically you need the following: 1. Engine w/1" crankshaft and electric start 2. Primary clutch 3. Engine mounting plate 4. Secondary clutch 5. Drive belt 6. Ignition switch 7. Battery 8. Cables & wiring The engine plate you might have to make yourself, I don't know of anyone who makes a direct fit for that cart. If you're cart is a 2 stroke engine setup, you won't have reverse gear. Make sure you get an engine that has a built in charging system, most only have 3 amps, so get one that has more. |

I'd rather offer a bit of witty banter myself. But thanks for the heads up on the triangle. |

Re: Installing 420cc motor in 89 ezgo
I appreciate all advice I get here. And yes I have multiple carts I'm working on, and can't spell, even with spell check. Anyways, far as all I'd need to swap the motors out had me wondering if the clutch off the 3pg motor will work on r he preditor motor?

Three negatives to think about here: 1. That clutch isn't designed for that engine and you'll be leaving performance on the table, assuming it's in good condition. If the clutch is worn, that's even worse. 2. The tapered adapter method is not the "correct" way to do this and it has been known to fail. The adapter is a friction fit with and has been know to slip and even mar up the crank and/or clutch. 3. Once you cut the crankshaft you cannot use the proper 1" straight shaft clutch anymore because the crank will be too short. In order to upgrade to a better clutch you'd have to install a new crank. So my recommendation is to use a Comet 780 1" straight shaft clutch with that engine. |
