Finally figured it out for the large ARC with the shower of sparks when hooking up the negative terminal. I first tried the v-glide pedal wasn't closing all the way, it was so no difference. The solenoid was stuck open. I pulled off all the wires from the big posts, but solenoid showed connected on my meter. Lucky I had a spare solenoid to make sure I was correct. Changed out the solenoid to a newer style and everything went together with no spark and ready for the road!!

Having same problem on mine if i disconnect large wires on the solenoid will this tell me if
its the sol, |
