Default ? with after market lights wired with keyswitch

New member, new owner of a 94.5 TXT. Previous owner has installed head lights (12V) via toggle switch. My question is can I wire these head lights through my key switch as well or does that not work with the voltage somehow? And can I also wire my new state of charge meter through the key switch as well. Also, do I have any optional "upgrades" to make my cart faster. Feel free to post links of previous threads that may assist me. Thanks!

So you want your keyswitch to act as a secondary switch to prevent the lights from being left on? The keyswitch runs on 36v, you would need to use a 36v relay to accomplish this (which isn't difficult to wire). As for the meter, that's easy, connect your positive meter lead to the 'cold' side of the switch (the terminal that reads 36v when the key is on.

Thanks! Do you have more info on the 36V relay? Amazon link? Wired in-line?

Here is a great diagram about how one is wired. It also gives the part number.

You can buy a three position key switch, which is what I did. It has two independent switches - all are off in position one, the controller gets power in position two, and the second switch turns on at position three, which can be wired to power lights, and and other accessory.

That is what I did and super easy. Just order a "keyswitch with lights." There are two sets of terminals isolated from each other. One set for 36v cart power and another set for 12v lights. While I was at it I got the "unique key switch with lights" because I park my cart in a public area and didn't want anyone with a fleet key to use my cart.

I got one of the Harley three position barrel switches. I love it.

It was three years ago so I don't know exactly who I got it from. Do a yahoo or google search for "EZGO keyswitch with lights" or "EZGO unique key switch with lights" and you will get lots of hits. Just make sure that it is compatible for your year model.
