Speed difference
Why does a 36 volt motor go faster on 48 volt system than a 48 volt motor on its own system?

Re: Speed difference
because you are putting more voltage to it then it was originally designed for.

Re: Speed difference
If you ran a 48V motor at 64V, you'd get about the same results as running a 36V motor at 48V. Of course, the solenoid and controller would have to run at 64V also. ------------- Along those same lines, I wonder if anybody has tried retrofitting a 36V DC motor in a later model 48V DC system to get more speed. |

Re: Speed difference
If I ran at 64 volts, is there a way to override the over voltage setting in my DCX 500amp controller? I believe it only goes up to 60 volts.

They have AXE (Series) controllers that work up to 72V, but I don't see any of their SepEx controllers that will go that high, but other controller manufacturers may have them. |

Re: Speed difference
The components in this control are not capable of operation in excess of 60v. Connection to a source greater than 60v may cause immediate failure. Like Johnnie says they make 72v models which can use 64v. Let us know when you find a 64v charger

It just occurred to me while I was typing me earlier post. Glad to know it works. Did the just switch to a stock 36V PDS motor and keep the stock 48V Curtis 1206HB or did they use aftermarket motors and controllers? |
