Re: EZGO PDS - No 6 pin connector, what white wire?
Thank you very much for the replies. I did not have the manuals. I'm back home and will work on the cart today. Standard wheels and tires, so that's not it. It happens so fast, that it doesn't seem likely that it can be overheating, but I should know today.

Re: EZGO PDS - No 6 pin connector, what white wire?
It is indeed a speed sensor problem. Diagnostic code 1-3.
I am having trouble find the service manual section that covers the speed sensor |

Re: EZGO PDS - No 6 pin connector, what white wire?
The speed sensor isn't covered very well in the manuals, to say the least.
The attached drawing (from section H of service manual) shows how the sending unit is mounted on end of motor, but how it works isn't explained. From prior knowledge of similar devices, observations and a bit of reverse engineering, here is how it works. There is a Magnet disk fastened to end of armature shaft with a single screw. Inner and outer snap-rings hold a Hall-Effect sensor in close proximity to the magnet disk. There are 8 magnetic poles on the disk (4 pairs of poles - 4 North & 4 South) so the Hall Effect sensor produces 4 pulses every time the armature shaft make one complete revolution. The pulses are sent to the controller, which translates them into motor RPM. If the screw holding the magnet disk in place is loose, the disk can slip and you'll a speed sensor error, so check it before replacing the $ensor. Last edited by JohnnieB; 02-16-2017 at 04:44 PM.. Re: EZGO PDS - No 6 pin connector, what white wire?
It was the speed sensor magnet. It came loose. Pretty easy to get to once I took the rear wheel off and understood that it was installed behind a snap ring. Ordered a new one. I definitely should have started with the error code. I'll know better next time.
Thank you all. |
