Default Batteries

I am curious about the batteries on my cart. When I plug it in and charge it the batteries almost sound like they are boiling and put out an odor. Does anyone have any suggestions or answers

That's normal behavior, from my understanding.

The boiling sound is called gassing and it is normal.
The smell is sulfur dioxide and it is normal.

When an electrical current flows through the electrolyte (sulfuric acid diluted with water), electrolysis occurs and the water decomposes into hydrogen and oxygen gasses. When enough collects on the plates, bubbles are formed and they raise to the surface causing the boiling sound.

When oxygen gas is bubbled through a sulfuric acid solution, sulfur dioxide is formed and smells like rotten eggs.

Just a word of caution...the gas being expelled can ignite with just a spark...be safe...

gassing is normal
after charger shuts off check your water , they should be 1/4" above the battery plates
if not fill them with distilled water only to 1/4" above the plates
do this monthly
