Default Unsure if my cart is 36 or 48 volt

I have what I believe is a 1995 club car ds(first part of serial is A9526) and I am trying to determine what batteries are needed for replacement. It currently has six 6v batteries(Napa 8144) but the charger they are hooked to is not the original 3 prong receptacle that is present on the cart. A two prong jerry-rigged plug is currently hooked into the batteries for charging. So I am unsure if I have a 48 volt cart that got the only batteries that someone had laying around or if I have a 36 volt cart with a body transplant. The body says Powerdrive on the side and has a red battery light on the dash, also the four post solenoid says 48v.

to BGW

You have a 48v cart. One of the first ones made by CC, as they began in 1995.

Just to double check, see what voltage the motor is.

Motor says 48 v but I wasn't sure if it meant "Up to" 48 v. Thanks for the info.

I've got a lead on a factory CC Powerdrive charger if you are interested...

If its the charger I need in a good price range it would be a possibility.

It's the charger that would've come with the cart originally. I just sent you a PM

Knowing its a 48v, what are opinions on batteries? Six 8v or four 12v? Is one way better than the other?

Go with 6/8's. You'll get more range out of them and probably last a year or two longer with the proper care.

6 8v batteries beat 4 12v batteries every time...more usable reserve power and longer life...I have used: U.S. Battery, Trojan and Crown...find the best price and go for it!
