Default 2003 Club Car DS IQ - Speed Upgrades Needed before Lift

I did search for this topic prior to this post but did not find anything specific to the IQ model and impact to HP and torque from the essential upgrades (motor, controller, wiring).

I am recently a new owner of a 03 DS IQ with stock suspension and blazing the flat roads of Florida at 15 mph. My initial thought upon purchase was to upgrade the suspension to a 6" A-arm with 22" tires but as I was reviewing the different brands I knew it would impact my blazing speed (sarcasm involved). Research was then focused to performance but I did not find too much around the IQ model.

My aspirations for speed/torque is not to be the fastest but to be over 20mph after the lift and tires. So my question is what has been your experience with the IQ model and upgrades to the motor, controller, wiring, etc? Essentially what should be my first choice for bang for the buck?

Default 2003 Club Car DS IQ - Speed Upgrades Needed before Lift

Have you looked into a speed magnet? I put one in a 2004 IQ DS with a GE motor and I instantly got 20MPH. A speed magnet will only work with an IQ model, and there are two different motors they used. Find out which one you have before getting a magnet.

Bigger tires adversely effect torque or power. Forego the magnet tricks and install an Alltrax XCT controller and HD solenoid. The result will be an instant 35% increase in power and 23 mph on stock tires......taller tires will be no problem and result in more top speed.

Yep, for IQ, get the controller, 2 gauge cables and solenoid.

Any chance to get a quote for the controller and solenoid?

Get a new motor while you're at it. The factory motor in your DS won't hold up to that kind of abuse for long.

Plum Quick can rebuild your motor with more speed and torque also. The price is not bad either.

I was pondering that as well and would rather pay the extra money to keep my stock one as a spare.
