Default Anyone bypass their key and just put a switch?

In the process of restoring my cart and trying to clean up the wiring. I know it’s a super simple thing to do, my only hesitation is theft... but the key switch is kind of a joke anyhow.

Anyone install a toggle near the charger plug?

I've seen it done several times. It is mainly for theft deterrence, or safety purposes (kids).

I put a Ford tractor keyed on/off switch in place of the plastic club car one. I liked the unique key aspect and it was about $10.

i rarely even turn off my cart. the few times i do is when kids are around. kids love to drive on golf carts. any kid will hop in the cart and stomp the go pedal to the floor, i had a little one do this and hit the wall a foot in front of them. a 3 year old will memorize what it takes to turn on your cart, hiding the key over the mirror doesn't work for a 3 yr old either.

i'd highly recommend you have a key switch if only for the lil ones in your life

I put a Keyless remote in. It has a 300 ft range. Fun when you leave it on and catch a family member borrow it. You just turn it off as they start to drive away.

I’m interested in which keyless remote you installed and how to wire it. I’m not great at understand wiring diagrams.

Thanks!

You're not kidding! The FIRST time my 3 year old came out with us on the cart, he knew how to run the key, found the horn and knew how to use it, and understood the concept of the gas pedal. Considering that the cart will be used for primary transportation to an elementary school, a secondary switch will be added for anti-theft. I love the remote idea and am also looking forward to hearing which kit.

Good thread...could you post a link to the auction or some more details on which exact unit you used?
