Default Extremely Hard Starting in Cold Weather

Hi Guys, I took the cart up to the hunt camp this week and the temps dropped between 30-40 degrees. Every morning the cart wouldn't start for about 5 minutes of cranking. When I pulled the airfilter out to give it more air it looked like it was blowing exhaust or atomized gas through the carb into the airbox. When it finally started and warmed up it seemed to run ok. The previous owner told me it was hard to start on cold mornings but this was extreme in my opinion. We had two EZGO carts at the camp and the other would start fine.

Anyone have any ideas? Some things I did when i got the cart was to change the oil. The previous owner had put too much in it so it was overfull. The airbox would accumulate oil so I thought that this was his hard start issue but I guess not.

Hi 9dawgs The valves could be out of adjustment that could cause your problem

Good post on the valve adjustment but when I looked at it it seems that there is some confusion as to when to adjust them. Cold or Hot? The shop manual doesn't say either... Actually it looks like it should be done cold according to the manual as it's done right after the engine re-assembly section but it's not specific in saying cold or hot.

I set mine cold, have rechecked them later on when the motor is warm and they are still at same adjustment
