Default Forward Reverse switch wiring on DS

I have a club car ds, about a 2001. I changed the forward reverse switch, and am having issues.

It is doing a few different things, first when it does go, the torque almost gives you whiplash. Then you drive about 100 feet and it shuts down. Eventually, without doing anything other than waiting for about a half hour, it will do that again.

I am wondering if I was suppose to disconnect one side of this copper bar that ties the bottom together.

The switch I took off is identicle, with only one difference, that being this copper bar that ties the 2 verticle copper bars together.

On the old switch, the wire was attached to the driver side verticle bar and one side only of the horizontal buss bar. The other side of the horizontal buss bar was not attached, just hanging.

The new switch came with that bottom horizontal bar, attached to both verticle bars, AND I LEFT IT THAT WAY! SO THE HORIZONTAL BAR IS ATTACHED TO BOTH VERTICLES. Is this my problem??/ If I remove that horizontal bar completely and just attach the wire to the driver side bar, is that the way it goes??

No its a 48 volt cart. I remember a few months ago I put one of your mcor conversion kits on it.

The switch I took off, that bottom copper bar was not attached to both verticals, it was only attached to the one with the wire on it.

The new one has the copper bar attached to both verticles. So I am wondering if it is sending juice to 2 place instaed of one?

On a 48 Volt F&R switch the two top ones should be tied together, which they are because it's only one piece. The bottom two are also supposed to be tied together. That's why it came with the jumper bar. On a 36 Volt, One of the bottoms would be Reverse positive and the other would be Forward positive. Tie them together always on a 48 V application. Your white wire should go to one of the bottoms and the blue wire should go to one of the tops.

Then I guess it is hooked up right. I was wondering why the cart shuts down on me?

It has a 36 volt motor, an alltrax controller ( 421?), is lifted, and has big tires.

Thanks David,

Does the solenoid click when it won't go?

That DCX can be a sensitive to out of range throttle signals. Can you give us the up and down pedal readings on the throttle signal?

Yes, solenoid clicks. I tried jumping the big terminals, while stepping on the pedal, and no go.

Sounds like it is not a solenoid or solenoid activation problem then..
