Can’t you mimic a loss of power by simply turning the key off while driving? Wouldn’t this be the same outcome with acid or lithium? I would find it hard to believe that loss of power would trigger the cart to lock up entirely because that could happen even in a non-lithium scenario.

I don't think this would work as even when the key is off, the controller receives a little power unless you flip the tow switch. I think the controller prevents this e-brake situation we're discussing because it can detect the motor is still spinning and will prevent the eBrake.

To accurately test this, I think you would have to just get some speed then flip the run/tow switch and then you might get the same condition. You'll find out the hard way though what happens.

That would make logical sense. How about the scenario where lithium carts trip the BMS while driving? I assume that’s a complete loss of power.

That's the exact issue OP is talking about. It seems very rare but a reasonable one to consider.

The run/tow switch idea is the only thing I can think to test it easily and if it doesn't work something is breaking lol.

This scenario happened with friends of mine. Icon 40l with a roypow lithium pack going up a bridge. BMS shutoff the battery and it was like someone slammed on the brakes.

Any resolution or conclusion to you concerns? I'd like to do a lithium battery in an i60L but don't want to take the chance of is shutting down. We live in a hilly area and cart will be constantly full.
