Yes it should be secured, and also removable seat cushions.

If you can remove it I would. I routinely haul my cart on highway trips and remove it while in transit. I have friends who fold theirs down and bungie cord the folded windshield to keep it secured but I find it easier to totally remove. Then I don't have any risk of loss, breakage or damage from the drive. Mine only takes a matter of a couple minutes to install so that's my two cents.

Face forward and windshield up is okay for most trips. Folded and tied down is okay too. Strap the seat down too.

I pull it on the trailer facing forward and fold down the windshield, secure it using the factory rubber holders/clips. Never thought about removing the seat since it is held down at the front with the hinge things.

Did you pass a strap or a bungee cord on it ?

I like to take mine off. With it up, there is a huge amount of drag. Even folded you can feel it. Whatever you do, don't leave it on and haul it backwards.

I have not thought about strapping the seat down. Probably should just to be safe. I use the attachment point on front that is for towing and the hitch on the back to strap the cart down.
