Default What kind of paint to use for frame holding roof

So my cart has a plain finish on the front frame that holds the roof. The back seat has a black glossy paint frame since newly installed. My question is can I paint over the front frame as is, and what type of paint can I use to match it. Picture below

Are you talking about the front roof struts? Is this a CC or an EZ GO? There isn't a picture attached to your post.

For a CC with aluminum struts, I sanded the best I could with a 600 grit lightly and sprayed it with a Rustoleum black metal paint to prevent corrosion, then went over it a couple of times with a need liner aerosol spray. Been building up fine for over a year now.

We lost power this am so the picture probably didn't go through. It's a club car. Guess I can go by Home Depot and pick up the paint.

Prep is the key !!

A good cleaning, light sanding with 400-600 is fine, wipe down with mineral spirits or other "no residue" solvent.

A couple of light coats of quality "rattle can" (try to match the sheen of your other strut) and you should be good to go !!

ALL of the above is easily available at your local Lowes or Home Depot

It looks like the front struts are aluminum usually you need a primer I think zinc chromate or a self etching primer. To help it stick.
Good luck

Hard to believe, but for what you are doing I suggest the $1 a can gloss black from Wal-Mart. Simply hit it with steel wool, rinse, dry and paint. Dries to a satin/semi gloss finish. Have had really good luck with it holding up too.

I agree, self etching primer on aluminum first then the topcoat.
