Re: 83 marathon
I'm not sure if that's your regulator or not.On mine it's a metal box about 2"X3" with a cover that can be removed with two screws.I think it could be the regulator since it has three poles, but I don't know enough to say for sure.
What's the possibility of adapting that Yamaha front end to the ez-go chassis? If the Yamaha has a locked up rear, and add to that you'll have to adapt an engine, I'd think adapting the front off the Yamaha might be a great deal easier.Or you might get on the Yamaha section and possibly swap for some parts you need. |

Re: 83 marathon
Tip for freeing up body screws, whack em with a small hammer hard or softly with a BFH. Usually breaks them free of bondo/paint/rust. Just went through this with an '84 that had probably never been apart. Every body screw was being a huge pain until I gave em a few good whacks, then they freed right up.

Re: 83 marathon
Quite possible with how long it's been sitting. Most likely can be reconditioned though so don't chuck it right away.Look around for a shop that can deal with DC motors.

Re: 83 marathon
Yea I'm going to try and clean it first and make some calls before I buy one and toss this one.
Thx for the info on the body screws I,ll try that. I did manage on getting the body panel for the muffler off by pushing hard. |

Re: 83 marathon
Don't toss that motor, if you're getting into these old puppies you'll want all the parts you can get.If you REALLY want rid of it, box it up and I'll pay shipping.I'll throw you a $10 for packing it too.

Here's the starter/generator I recently purchased, the price is definitely right and I'm quite happy with it:
