Default Spicer rear transaxle input shaft

I am swapping out a worn input shaft and motor bumper spline on TXT. My input shaft appear to be pressed in-i do not have a snap ring securing in in the case. The local shop said to bang on the case with a soft mallet and pull the shaft simultaneously.

Has anyone experienced a transaxle like this and did banging and pulling work? So far, no joy.

Thanks, I've read that and every other thread. I've attached some photos, can you help me identify where the retaining clip is?

It looks like the snap ring isn't present on yours and the shaft already came out a little, covering the groove of the snap ring??

I have pulled it with all I can with various tools. I don't think that has moved a centimeter. I will probably take the axel off and get a better look at it.
