A few questions ezgo rxv
Hello to all, This is the first time working on an ezgo, RXV 2009 ser# 5042886
date code 1209. 1. Is it normal to only have one U bolt on each rear leaf spring? 2. How do you check the oil level in the Diff.? It has a flat rubber plug on the bottom but no bolts anywhere on the side to check. 3. Steering has a bad squeak coming from the steering box and feels rough. Is there a lube point or adjustment? 4. How often should the brake be removed and inspected? Thanks |

Re: A few questions ezgo rxv
1- yes
2- its difficult, the plug is too low for a fluid check, too high for a total "drain & fill". I say, if its not leaking, its probably full. Best way to be sure is change the oil (to something better than the factory fill), and add the specified amount. 3- no lube point or adjustment on the actual steering rack, new steering rack assembly time. (they have lasted pretty well, except for lifted carts using lift kits that change the suspension geometry). Squeak may be from the rubber bushings inside the steering column (which can be lubed if you take most of the way apart). 4- the brake has no inspection interval (as there is nothing for you to do to it anyway), if it works, it works. If not, the only option is a complete brake assy (new HD unit is available from ezgo). Often times, the amount of wear that causes the cart to "dislike" the brake does not look like a big problem to the observer anyway. In other words, the cart will let you know when it no longer accepts the operation of the brake (usually by refusing to run when the "brake test" fails after the key is first turned on). Jamming the brake pedal to the point of brake lockup is a big no-no, unless its really an emergency stop. |
