2009 RXV rear hub question
Hello to all, Jacked up this cart and rear wheels seem loose. Lug nuts are tight. The axle bolt is only finger tight on both sides. pulled the hubs off no teeth are missing on axle or hub. Put the hubs back on tried to tighten 90-140 lbs but could not get the cotter pin to line up in that torque range. About 3/4 of the hole is covered by the castle nut. Do I dare just tighten it till it lines up?
Is this a typical indicator of worn out hubs due for replacement? Humm just had a thought, I'll see if I can fine a different torque wrench. |

Not a huge deal. Tighten it up 'till the next hole lines up.

Re: 2009 RXV rear hub question
In my experience if the rear hub nuts are not torqued to max you will get squeaking and clicking when moving. I am surprised your rig wasn't screaming and squeling with the hub nuts loose. I torqued the crap out of mine and applied lock-tight, still have to retighten every so often.

Thanks Sarge, it was making noise. It isn't my cart. I was shocked how loose the castle nuts were. Really not even finger tight. There was some kind of plastic looking washer squeezed out from between the thrust washer and bearing.

Re: 2009 RXV rear hub question
Putt, Thanks. Torque the crap out of it and use lock tight. I went to 130 FT LBS and couldn't get the cotter pin in, so Lock tight is your friend.
