Battery Tender - I use one on my car all the time. THey make one for golf carts too. Not sure if they have 36V though. Check them out.

you could get a dpi charger which is one of the best chargers on the market and will keep you current batteries not only charged correctly but will also keep them charged like a battery tender in a more advanced way. FWIW you could probably unload your current 36v charger on ebay or here to recover some of the cost. Check out cartsunlimited.net ScottyB has them
