Default Replacing Stock Tires With New Ones

I had a slow leaking front tire on my '07 TXT. It is stored in my garage for the winter. When I pulled it out to fix the leaker a rear tire was also flat. When I checked the rear tire it had completely split in the sidewall. Kind of looks like dry rot. So, that would tell me that I probably have 3 other dry rotted tires as well. My tires are stock which suits my needs fine. The dealer I bought the cart main biz is selling upgraded carts. He has stacks of stock tires on rims for cheap ($10 each). My concern with those is that they could be long in the tooth as well even if they show good tread. Most of his upgrades carts are usually 2012-14. Is there any way to tell tire age?

My cart is parked at a lake 90 miles away in the summer. The last thing I want is a flat or a slow leaker when I arrive to load up.

So, I am not sure if I want to try the used ones or get some new ones. One thing I hate with the stock tires is the thumpy ride after sitting a few weeks.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Rick

Buy new - they are cheap enough. They won't leak, and won't have flat spots.

Good advice. So, which ones? I am not a tight wad but less expensive is better. I don't need anything fancy, just no leaks and no lumpy flat ride. Tires mounted on rim is best for me and I would be happy to deal with a forum sponsor.

When they have sat in the garage in the same spot for a month, they will have flat spots on them too. It's unavoidable (or easily avoidable if you use it regularly). The flat spots go away quickly after driven about a mile or so. And your looking for tires you will never need to check the air on? How's your battery water looking?

My cart is packed into the corner of my garage for the winter. I keep check on the batts and keep the pack charged. My cart during the summer is parked at a lake. The tires get flat spots after two weeks. I drive it about 1/4 mile to my houseboat. It doesn't have time to smooth out the flat spots. It has the OEM tires designed for golf course turf use. I am looking for a better tire that won't go flat side. I drive on asphalt and a wooden dock. I keep check on my vehicle tire pressures. I shouldn't have to do it every two weeks. I am retired and don't drive a lot. My vehicles often sit for weeks or months and they don't do thump thump.

Has anyone dealt with http://www.golfcarttiresupply.com ? They have some pretty good deals on some mounted 4 ply "Slasher" brand. Also they have some 6 Ply Duro tires for just a bit more. Seems like I have seen some good posts on the Duro brand.

I found some new Greenball Greesaver tires mounted on the rims for $35 each shipped and will be here Saturday. The reviews I read on these were good. I think my issue was old leaking tires that would deform after losing air and sitting.

Thanks everyone for their input.
