Default EZ Go Marathon Feels Like Low Batteries After Battery Replacements

My 1993 EZ Go Marathon Turf Truck was barely crawling around with 5 year old batteries so I went out and bought 6 new Duracell EGC2's. The cart runs slightly better now but feels like it has no power, very similar to what it feels like at the end of a long day of use. I checked the voltage at the charger port and it shows 38v

Any ideas where I should start troubleshooting? Thanks
