I would say water resistant. I cover mine with a bag when I clean the batteries. I wouldn't want to flood it. You'll feel like you got a new cart once installed. Also Scotty's customer service is second to none.

I'll probably do the same just to be safe. Yeah, Scotty has answered all of my pm's very quickly. I have an XCT400 with fan and remote control on the way! I cant wait to get my hands on it
