PDS resistor extremely hot, burnt motor speed sensor wire
Well, as I am still learning on my adventures into being golf cart poor... I come across something with one of the twins I picked up a few weeks back.
I've been building a cart for my father, I've got it to the point of where I put the batteries in. I turned the key, hit the pedal and.... Nothing. Opened the cover to find that the speed sensor wire on the controller somehow melted into the controller side of the solenoid. And the resistor on the solenoid was on fire (Not literally). I replaced solenoid, same thing resistor hot. I know the solenoid is staying wide open. I have no voltage on controller side of solenoid. I have voltage on every pin on J1 except for pin 2 which isn't supposed to have voltage. I have another controller, on the other sister. I'm hesitant to throw it on here because I don't know what the possibilities of me frying it as well could be. Should I go ahead and put it on? |

Re: PDS resistor external hot, burnt motor speed sensor wire
Look at this discussion here > http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...t-running.html
The resistor gets hot when the controller gets a throttle signal without the solenoid closing. |

Re: PDS resistor extremely hot, burnt motor speed sensor wire
No need to test the motor if you have no power to it when you try to go ?
If your solenoid is not clicking go back to the other thread and look at the solenoid activation diagram I posted again. You should have power at all ends of the red lines when you try to go. |

Re: PDS resistor extremely hot, burnt motor speed sensor wire
Ok I put the controller from the twin on it. Now it's working, has a very obvious delay in the pedal however.
