Unhappy 2014 TXT steering problems

Hello, i recently bought a used 2014 ezgo txt electric cart from a local course. I replaced the batteries and have fixed a few issues however, the steering is a problem. when i steer to the far right, the wheels stop turning and the steering wheel/column starts slipping. If i continue this steering, it slips to the point where it appears it is no longer engaged to the steering rack itself and freely spins in either direction without moving the wheels. It is only when i physically move the wheels back toward center that the rack reengages with the steering column. What do i need to do to fix this?

thank you

david

Sounds like the rack itself is work out. I see it all the time on older EZGOs, but it's unusual on one that comparatively new.

EZGO sells the steering box for $360.69, but it's usually just the teeth on the rack that get worn out. The rack itself is available separately for $67.88.

That's not too bad so long as the pinion gear is okay

Update on the steering problems. ended up being the steering rack as pointed out by meimk. When i tore into the system, the boots were shot and a lot of dirt and other debris had made its way into the rack. no teeth were missing, but it was causing the steering to slip. I replaced the entire assembly for $150 from golfcartgarage.com
