ok guys day 3 of this cart and trying to fig out. now If I hit the pedal and spin the tire a little it will go and run. same with reverse. but when it stops or I stop it the depress it wont go unless I spin tire. it is on jack. checked volts at motor when running and its at 38.4 on 3 of 4 wires both in reverse and forward. any suggestions or what mite this problem be? could motor need rebuild ?

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
barry.....you have an issue with the high current side of your cart. seeing as hoy you are having an intermittent current issue. And the age of your cart, I have a feeling the issue is in your F&R. try this first, on the back side if the F&R there us a 9/16 nit dead center, tighten it a little at a time and see if you got power.

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
thanks for your reply sir night; I did try that and found that the nut is striped on that bolt and also wire to left of that is also loose and wont tighten up either so do you think I need to just change the whole F&r switch ?

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
that is exactly what you need to do....get yourself a new HD F&R from cartsunlimited.net once you have it, mark every wire and cable before you remove them, then swap them out and you should be good to go.

ok guys; day 5, so did what sir nuke said and changed the F&R switch with a new HD F&R switch with new micros and wires. don't get me wrong it was bad and did need exchanged but still doing the same thing. whether in F or R u have to spin tire for it to go when you hit the pedal. does anyone have any other suggestions ? cleand wires on motor and replaced some new junction wire ends.

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
ok....I just re-read everything. you did say that you cleaned the connections on the motor, but you never mentioned whether or not you cleaned ALL of the ends of EVERY high current cable....if you haven't, do so. the fact that the solenoid CLICKS, that circuit works, the other is the high current circuit, which is why I suggested checking every connection.

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
The symptom of spinning a tire to get it to run screams motor brush/commutator contact issue. It may be time for new brushes and cleaning the commutator.

Re: 1998 36 volt ezgo txt
thanks guys for the response . yes I did clean every wire with wire brush and also replace 2 ends on a few high volt wires. just cut ends off and put new copper ends on but still same. so I am really thinking the brushes in motor need replaced . any other suggestions would help before I tear the motor out . thanks everyone
