Default New Yewy 36v charger

I bought a new Yewy 36v from ScottyB. It arrived yesterday and I put it on my 93 EZGO marathon around 4pm and it is still running. Should I be worried?

Is it putting out 20 A at 45 1/2 V? If so, that sounds pretty high. Let’s wait for Scotty or one of the experts on these chargers to see it though.

It's been going for about 30 hours now. Should I turn it off?

That doesn’t sound right. Are the batteries bubbling?

LukeL
They were bubbling a lot. I just turned it off and measured the voltage with my DVM.

Let’s wait till Scotty sees this. Maybe it’s normal? I’ve never used one of those chargers.

Definitely not right, the first picture shows it had already returned 556.6AH to the batteries

Batteries are 6 years old and were in the cart when I got it. It's time to get some new ones.

In any event the charger should have turned itself OFF or it is a fire hazard.

I agree. The batteries are most likely defective, but the charger ought to have a safety timer. It obviously tracks elapsed time of the charge cycle, so making it stop charging after a number of hours have elapsed without reaching some voltage or amperage criteria would be logical.

I noticed the LEDs next to the data display weren't illuminated. Was the charger disconnected from the batteries when the picture was taken, or aren't the LEDs working?

About the only info I have on the Yewy chargers is what I've found on the Carts Unlimited website, which leaves a lot to be desired. Does anybody have a Yewy manual they can scan into a PDF format and post???????

Could be just bad batteries, but I suspect the Yewy is sick also.
