Default First Ezgo need help

Hi everyone this is my first Ezgo that I have worked on. I think it is a 98. 36 volt series drive.Pick it up the other day. Installed new batteries today and a f/r switch. The old one got really hot on two post. I thought I made sure to put all the cables on the right post.. Hooked battery cables back up to test it. Forward an reverse are switched. I have looked at some wiring diagrams. If I am looking at them right they show 5 cables to the switch I only have 4. It did run with the old switch. Sorry about the upside down photo.

Thanks Scottyb I tested like the instructions said. All checked out good. Well I had the linkage on wrong. had the arm down instead of up. I think I will go get another drink. Thanks for your help.

This cart is going to be used in a campground. She is not into speed. Will this series drive take slow speed.

No cart is happy creeping very slow for a long time, especially uphill with passengers, but in moderation, a series does fine. Higher amperages will be experienced by cables, FNR, solenoid, and motor. High amperage means higher temperature. Monitor motor with IR gun or a spit wetted finger. No sizzle is OK. Sizzle is too hot.

Thanks hurtle, I did not think it would be go for it. Will keep an eye on it. I don’t think she will be using it a lot just some short trips around the campground.
