Not finding much about the wiring but I did run across these and they state

Wire color code:

RED-Brake Bright/Pos 12v

WHITE-Negative 12v

BLACK-Running Dim/Pos 12v

Fits EZGO TXT or ST 1995'-2013' models.

You say that you used the black for your turn signal, that may be the dim running light and if you try it on the red then it may be brighter?

On mine, yes, I used the black wire to make the lights get brighter when the turn signal is on. Wiring colors may be different since it’s not an OEM Kit, but if I tie into the black wire again, with the brake switch, it sounds like it may work?

If you have a digital multi meter you can put it on the OHM setting and check for continuity on one of the other wires and see if it is also for ground, your light must be grounded for the lights to come on.

Unless the lights that you are using have a backup light also then I'm guessing that the black wire is for the bright as you said, then one of the others is ground and the last one would be dim but that is just me guessing and then the blinker and brake would use the same bright.

Do you have tail lights on like parking lights or just the turn signal now?

You are both overlooking the reason WHY the controller is in charge of the brake lights... Regen braking occurs as you release the throttle, without touching the brake pedal. Brake lights must light up during regen braking to be legal. A stone stock RXV regens to a full stop in about 30 seconds. The controller controls when to apply the brake lights

So if the brake lights stop working what happened? The tail light and turn signals still work.

The brake light relay probably failed.

What you say makes complete sense as far as being street legal.

I was thinking that he didn't want the controller controlling the brake light, I don't have any experience with the RXV, was just trying to help him get it working the way that he described.

I have three wires coming from the tail/brake lights. Red, white, black. The black is what I used for the turn signals. Any help is appreciated

Dwalls is correct. Just trying to bypass the controller all together. However, seeing how my aftermarket harness was not plug and play for turn signals, I’m assuming I wouldn’t even be able to hook up brake lights to the controller even if I wanted to, so I was just going to use the brake pad pressure type switch to activate the brake lights. My affidavit for low speed vehicles only stated the cart must have brake lights. Didn’t say they have to activate as soon as I let off the accelerator.

My cart is a txt and brake lights work with a factory installed pressure switch on the pedal.
It is a micro switch that 12 volt + connects to. Other terminal is the wire to the bulbs. Switch is normally open meaning once pedal is pressed, switch close’s
and supply’s 12 volts to bulbs.
12 volts is supplies via convertor. Lights do not go thru controller like rat does.
Hth 😊

Do you have a link for the type of switch you have Cobra 1?
